The area is approximately 65m long and 2m wide. The existing path is constructed using precast concrete paving slabs with precast concrete path edgings along both sides. The existing paving slabs are to be taken up and set aside for re-use. The path edgings are to be left in place except where substantially disturbed by tree roots, when they will be removed and re-laid in accordance with the original construction detail. 

 

The existing paving slabs are to be re-laid, matching the existing bond pattern. The paving may be up to 20mm above the top of the existing path edging. The 1 in 40 crossfall towards the road is to be maintained. At each end the re-laid paving must tie smoothly into the retained paving without forming any trip hazards. Joints between paving slabs are to be filled with a kiln-dried selected sand.
